Secret Garden Ballet Salt Lake Premier
Last weekend, a decade-long dream finally ame true - I was able to conduct my original score for the ballet Secret Garden at historic Capitol Theater. It was in that theater 12 years earlier that I first met Ray Van Mason who choreographed a ballet based on my CD Seasons. After that experience, we made plans to write an original ballet based on the beloved childrens story The Secret Garden. After we wrote the libretto together, we struggled trying to raise the money to mount the ballet.
Finally, due to Rays hard work and perserverance, the ballet became a reality last year. Dancing to a synthesized orchestral track of my music Imagine Ballet Theatre premiered the ballet in Ogdens historic Egyptian Theatre. But this year, Ray found the money to pay a live orchestra. After orchestrating an hours worth of music, it was my priveledge to be able to raise my baton and finally hear and see a dream come to life.
Kudos to Ray and his dance troupe for making a dream come true for me.
